The ramblings of a diva, from the day to day to the bizarre. Some days it's about kissing 40, other days its about the wacky neighborhood.

A word from our sponsor...
So, there is this TV show that I might have mentioned here once or twice called True Blood. It really is very entertaining--Season Three is turning out to be stellar, but what about between episodes? The Fourth of July festivities down south has made me wait an extra week for my fix, damn Yankees!! And summer TV is proving to be as exciting as watching a test pattern. And the movies this summer, well, lets just say due to a cash flow problem (roof, laptop, food) I haven't seen any. What is a girl to do?
Well, True Blood is based on a series of novels, The Southern Vampire Mystery Series by Charlaine Harris. I read the first 9 books in about 2 weeks, then had to wait for the tenth book to be published. Finished that one off in an evening. Now I have to wait till next year for more.
Sigh. Now what?
Well, I guess there is this huge cross genre out there that the Sookie Stackhouse novels are a part of. Some call it Paranormal Romance or Urban Fantasy. I am not sure what to call it aside from addictive. Maybe "Supernatural Mystery Comedy Horror Porn"? Well, I know it ain't literature. But it is free (library) and highly entertaining.
I think I have been reading a novel every two days now for two months.
Really. It's true. Andrew is wondering what happened to the real Tiina. Some days I wonder that myself.
Andrew also thinks that this reading thing might make for good blogging. I have already commented on some of the books on the Edmonton Public library site (tiina69 if anyone comes across them), so why not elaborate here?
Here is a list of the series I have been reading:
The Fever Series (Mackayla Lane) by Karen Marie Moning -- 4 books; read all; 5th out next year
The Highlander series, also by Karen Marie Moning -- 7 books; read 6 (library doesn't have one)
Betsy the Vampire Queen by MaryJanice Davidson -- 8 books; read all; 9th out this summer
The Parasol Protectorate (Alexia Taribotti) by Gail Carriger --2 books, read all: 3rd out this fall
Bobbie Faye novels by Toni McGee Causey --3 books; on third
Night Huntress by Jeaniene Frost -- 4 books; on 3rd; 4th out next year
Mercy Thompson by Patricia Briggs -- 5 books; read 1st; rest have a lot of holds on them
various anthologies
I am also sorta reading the Elemental Assassin Series by Jennifer Estep and Riley Jensen Guardian Novels by Keri Arthur. I sometimes pick-up an Anita Blake book by Laurell K Hamilton but I fell real dirty when I do. I mean, her writing is like a train wreck that you stop and gawk at and then feel guilty when the someone catches you looking.
All of the books are of the "paranormal romance" or "urban fantasy" persuasion except for the Bobbie Fay series; I'm not sure what to call it except for "rural mystery demolition".
I am gonna try to go into more detail on these books later on but now I have to get back to Bobbie Faye blowing things up. No, wait. Andrew is putting in Collision: Hitchens vs some pastor. I love blasphemy!
