Oh no! I forgot to blog!!!

In the excitement of the last month I forgot to blog regularly. Oh no! My one fan will not know what has not been happening in my so called life. (I am only blogging now to put off doing websites for as long as possible....)

Well, as you can see by the photo Dare is a graduate of doggie school level 2! He was very studious but is still having trouble with the "park it" command. But everything else from "stay" to "wait" to "heel" he has mastered. Woof Woof!

Well, I also got a new cell phone, not an iPhone (what, do I look like I am made of money?) but a lovely LG Flick--touch screen with email and web options and world wide access. This last part is gonna come in handy in August.

We also got a new car. Well, an old car. A 1998 Honda CRV, silver. It works. It goes forward, backward and stops just like a car is supposed to. And it doesn't complain at all. It has a large area for Dare to sit in and whine but not bother us directly (and thereby causing a car accident). We already drove it Calgary and it was a cheap and comfortable ride, with awesome podcasts cause the radio hooks up to an iPod. Wow, we are spoiled!!! Thanx mom and dad!

On June 17 we will be in Calgary for their Comic-Expo, along with William Shatner, but I am not taking responsibility for that one. It looks like a lot of fun but it is gonna be huge!

In August, I will be heading to Greece to chaperone my niece Cevyn (I will 'splain everything in a later post) for a bus tour and cruise. I am already brushing up on my greek (thanx Mango at the EPL). Can hardly wait!

I also signed up for the Sketchbook Project so if I can finish my sketchbook by January of next year it will be on permanent tour with them! My chosen theme is Time Travel. I can hardly wait!

Well, that sums up may for everyone. Will post more in June.

My husband is awesome....

...as his book, Cowboys & Aliens, is now at #5 on the New York Times bestseller list.

Yes, that bestseller list.

So, can we borrow ten bucks?

Thanx in advance.

Blondie goes country...

Just listening to a country version of Blondie's Dreaming on CKUA. I am really enjoying it, despite the fact that it is countrified. Truth be told, I have really liked a lot of the "remakes" of songs lately, especially the Africa sings U2 songbook.

A shout out to CKUA for expanding my musical horizons. Again.

Best weight loss program ever!

It seems that the best diet I have ever been on is this one, a combination of a hysterectomy and homemade oatmeal cookies.

Really.

At first everyone attributed my weight loss to shedding the water I retained after the surgery but I didn't really retain water that way. And it has been going down evenly since then, despite my odd cravings for oatmeal cookies and Mars bars. I have been making batches twice a week and A has complained on more than one occasion that he should stop eating all these sweets. And he is right, I should stop too.

I will, eventually.

And I never really fancied Mars bars, being more of a Dairy Milk or Lindt girl but lately most chocolate tastes like ash except for Mars.

Oh yeah, I discovered I LOVE blood oranges. Normally, I don't eat a lot of fruit but at Christmas I go nuts for mandarins - easy to peel, compact to carry, the right amount of sweet and tang. But since January I can't get enough of blood oranges (which for me is once or twice a day--a lot more than I would normally eat).

And coffee is tasting a little better than before (yeah!) but I was overjoyed to see that London Drugs once again stocks my favourite tea, Ty-Phoo!! I am finally having decent cuppas again.
Along with the porcelain mug I got for Christmas from the inlaws (thanx M and J!), tea taste so much better that I am having 2 to 5 cups a day.

If anyone is wondering (and I am sure you are not) I went into the hospital at close to 160, now I am 137.

Wow.

What I knit to...

I thought that it might interest some people to know what I knit to. I don't know why it would be of interest to anyone but I have to blog about something I am familiar with and leave the problems in the Middle East and Wisconsin to those in the know.

Anyhew, I find that the Jurassic Park trilogy especially conducive to the ol' knit n purl. I find the sounds of people being terrorizied by dinosaurs relaxing but also fast enough to get momentum going. The TV series Primeval is also good in this respect.

The Mummy trilogy is fun to knit to as I have seen it so many times that I don't actually have to watch the screen, although I do when Brendan Fraser* is talking. Blast from the Past is another Brendan Fraser film to have on in the background, light and peppy while showcasing a much younger Fraser and Nathan Fillion. And you can't go wrong with Christopher Walken as a straitlaced but goofy 60's era father.

Both Addams Family movies provide the right combo of levity and the macabre that I find refreshing. The Scream trilogy also works for the same reasons. Of course the reality shows Ghost Hunters and Destination Truth are also excellent, with light, often funny commentary and you do not have to pay close attention till the end 10 minutes.

My favourite shows, like Being Human, Supernatural, 30 Rock and Community get my full attention, at least the first time around. Not surprisingly The Office and Parks and Rec are easier to watch while one is not paying full attention as the humour often runs on the uncomfortable side.

Home decorating shows, on the other hand, are not good for knitting to, mostly because you need to pay attention to the before and afters, and the repartee is often contrived and forced (with the exception of anything Sarah Richardson and Tommy Smythe do; their longtime friendship is apparent in their back and forth).

Well, I hope that this has been as entertaining to read as it has been to write. Now, to knit!

*A side note: Brendan Fraser is a highly undervalued actor. He gives 100% to the film, no matter how crappy it may be.

Look Ma! My own iPod Touch!

Harvey sent me Cevyn's old iPod Touch. It is so awesome! I can't imagine how I lived without one. It doesn't make phone calls but I think I am gonna try a hack I read about online that turns it into a very limited phone. For the moment I am happy that I can surf the web and send email and listen to music and watch video on a little screen without moving from the couch.

Ain't life grand?
