Blah Blah Blah Snore

I can't imagine that anyone reads this--I certainly don't. But in case you do I will post some random updates.

Update #1: Major score Monday night: I stopped by my favourite thrift store and got two pairs of jeans, a pair of shorts and an awesome silk tunic. Total bill: $4.20 (all clothing in the store is a dollar a piece). So you're all thinking it was the silk tunic that was the steal, right? No ma'am. One of the pair of jeans was Not Your Daughter's Jeans (Tummy Tuck straight leg)! There is only one place to buy them new in town and last time I checked they retailed there for between $90-$150. And I do looks gorgeous in 'em.

Now an impression of me: ...bored, bored, bored, bored, True Blood, bored, bored, bored...

Update #2: Andrew and I went grocery shopping to a rather upscale IGA today, as the one within walking distance to our house is kinda scary, what with the shootings and hookers throwing up in the parking lot. So as we were standing in line to pay I noticed they still had the mechanical pony ride at the front of the store. Delightful!! As a kid I remember fighting with my brothers to get to "ride the horsey". I think it cost five cents back then.

I mentioned this to Andrew who wondered if this was the same pony. It could have been as this was one of the IGAs that we went to as kids. The other was the now scuzzy one by our house.

I'm guessing that asking to "ride the horsey" at the scuzzy IGA now would mean something entirely different and would not cost five cents....

Another impression of me: ...bored, bored, bored, bored, True Blood, bored, bored, bored...

Update #3: Busy shopping day today. Stopped at Safeway for some more groceries but forgot to bring our recyclable bags. The cashier was sympathetic-everyone has dozens of the cloth bags at home but usually end up using plastic.

I didn't mind, said I, as we end up using the plastic to scoop doggie poop. Then an odd thought occurred to me: In a 500 years the only thing left of our civilization will be perfectly preserved dog turd.

That made Data's day.

Another impression of me: ...bored, bored, bored, bored, True Blood, bored, bored, bored...

Sigh. We live in between the Beverly and 82nd street IGA - and both of them totally match your IGA description. It is very unfortunate, especially since other IGAs can be nice. I like to think of it as "character"...

Yes, character... that is a very good way to describe it. Although I think my friends who live near IGA's in posher 'hoods are a tad bit jealous as the only "character" that they can look forward to is a lippy bag boy or PMSing cashier.
