It's A Boy!!!
On November 5 I had my hysterectomy and it was a boy!!!
(The picture is of Me and Fitzy on Tuesday after the surgery.)
The surgery was scheduled for 8:30 a.m. but we had to be there 2 hours earlier. Andrew and I are NOT morning people, still we made the best of it. Andrew was able to come with me all the way to the OR to which we are both eternally grateful -- the waiting is the worst part. We joked and giggled which really put me (and A too!) at ease. So much so that I don't remember counting backward, just waking up in recovery. The surgery went very well, (Dr. Mah took pictures) according to everyone who was not doped up. For future reference, I am (so I'm told) "interesting, paranoid and fishlike" under anesthesia. All I remember was that I was convinced I hadn't had the surgery yet.
The nurses and everyone else were surprised (and relieved) at how quickly I bounced back. The intravenous was removed late Saturday and I was doing stairs on Sunday. I was the only one who wasn't shocked by my recovery but again I was also convinced that I didn't have surgery; however, any attempt to get in and out of bed brought me painfully back to reality.
I really wanted to blog before I went in but I got so busy with EVERYTHING else. Now that I am convalescing I should be able to blog more often, but who knows?
I would like to thank everyone who helped out--Mom and Marlene for cleaning and food; Shawna for my flying monkey (anything can be made better with a flying monkey!!); Dad & Joe for the chauffeur service; Dr. Mah for her awesome work and wry sense of humour; the nurses at the Miz for doing such a great job; Jeff and Georgie for the flowers and endless support; Tina and Sandra who came to see me and of course Andrew, for being a rock and putting up with my crankiness with side splitting (literally) humour.
And to Yvonne from the bed next to me, hang in there sister; you will get better.
