Lost and Found

Well, Thursday May 20 was an interesting day.

The morning was as dull as dishwater. In the afternoon I helped my dad fill out government forms on his computer, a task that the clerk at Service Canada promised wouldn't take more than an hour. After almost three hours I think we had answered the endless stream of questions to the government's satisfaction. I'm sure we will hear otherwise if we didn't.

Now it was time to drive to the northside theatre as I had a ticket to see the live simulcast of the Times Talks Lost at 8 pm. Had to stop for gas first and for the first time in my life I got locked out of my car! I freaked-I asked the gas station attendant for a coathanger so I could try to break in.

I couldn't. But others could and did.

I don't know what I find more disturbing: how many people knew how to break into my car or how quickly one could (10 seconds). Well, I learned a new skill.

After a harrowing drive to the north end (it was raining so hard I couldn't see more than a few feet in front of me) I arrive to discover that people in New York do not understand the concept of time zones. What is supposed to be 8 pm on the coast is not 8 pm MST and the talks didn't begin till nine. I would have been more annoyed if I had actually paid for the ticket.

All was forgiven and forgotten once the talk started. Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof were entertaining and coy, not giving too much away but baiting us all the same. I learned a lot about how a TV show as complex as Lost was written and executed and I only wished that Andrew was there (he had to work).

All in all, an interesting day...

I think that there should be courses, like "B & E 101". Not only would I learn what to do in certain circumstances but it would also teach me what I can do to protect myself in these situations.
