Well, if you insist...
Lost started 6 years ago with a close up of Jack's eye opening, as he (and the audience) were born in that moment. The camera pans back and we discover the island with him. Lost ended with the Jack in the same bamboo thicket, eye(s) closing, as he (and the audience) died, content in the knowledge that all that could have been done or said had been.
Fan favourite (and Greek chorus) Hurley was chosen as the protector of the island. Ben was given the acknowledgment of his unique abilities that he had longed for all these years.
Locke got to be both reviled and rooted for in the same episode. Same with Ben.
The concept of live together or die alone was strongly reinforced in the finale:
- FLocke's death was a communal effort: Jack wore him down, Kate delivered the deathblow and Sawyer got to kick him over the edge. Interestingly, Locke's first death was caused by the survivors not working together.
- Lapidus, Miles and Richard had to work together to get the plane ready so they could leave the island. In fact the only time anything was accomplished on the island was when everyone, including FLocke, worked together.
- Micheal was not invited to salvation/bliss (trip to the church) because he had chosen to go it alone (Season 2 & 3) and will be forever trapped on the island, one of the many whispers in the breeze.
Many of the familiar faces from the past 6 years showed up in one form or another (actually, thru out the entire last season).
- I like that they gave us a glimpse of Rose and Bernard and Vincent the dog (although I think it was a different dog than the one used in the rest of the series).
- Faraday and Charlotte got to meet, presumably to start a more stable romance than the one they had on the island.
- I also like that everyone kept their core personality, even in the sideways universe.
The loose ends were not tied up in a nice bundle but knitted into a more complex, and ultimately more satisfying product.
I think I am starting to tear up again.
