I now know why girls who have those long nails are so thin: long fake nails are a diet device!
My mom made lobster tails and barbequed shrimp for Mother's Day (she doesn't understand that we are supposed to treat her not the other way round) and I had a hard time cracking the shell and peeling the shrimp. I ate far less than I normally would. The oils from the lobster and shrimp loosened the glue on the nails so I had to take them off but by then all the food was gone.
It is just as well. Wouldn't get much work done today with those lovely nails. Sigh.
The ramblings of a diva, from the day to day to the bizarre. Some days it's about kissing 40, other days its about the wacky neighborhood.

An Easy Buck
So I was walking towards the Safeway feeling all confident in my “new” red leather walking shoes (Nine West, $6.99 at Goodwill) when a man, standing by the door of the Dollar Store called out:
“Smell your hair for a buck?”
Did he want to give me a dollar so he could smell my hair or did he want me to give him the dollar for the same act? Considering the recent random murder in the parking lot a mere few feet away I decided not to ask for clarification.
Still, an easy buck is an easy buck....

Project Girl: Nails
So I am experimenting with fake nails. You know, the kind that you buy at the drugstore. After a bit of trial and error I managed to get them all on. They really do look sharp. I chose a French Manicure square shape that is really shiny. It elongates my stubby fingers and makes me look, dare I say it, elegant.
After the initial “look at my cool nails” appeal has worn off (it took about 2 hours) I am now trying to do my day to day stuff with these plastic things attached to my fingers. I didn't realize how tricky it would be. For instance, typing is taking longer as I have to do it really slowly and retype a third of what I have written because I punched the wrong key. Since using the remote control was tricky, I am apprehensive about using my cell or telephone. Opening the cat's food tin almost caused my new nail to rip right off. I think I might have to remove these tips before I try doing any work tomorrow.
I guess this is long nails have been considered a status symbol in many societies as working gals need there hands and nails to work. How do strippers manage to hold onto the pole with such long nails?
